METAFRONTIER ANALYSIS OF TECHNOLOGICAL GAPS AND PRODUCTIVITY DIFFERENCES IN AFRICAN AGRICULTURE

The analysis of agricultural productivity in Africa spanning 2000-2021 used metafrontier function technique to study the differences in efficiency and technological advancement across various Africa regions. The study showed that technological gaps are important in determining how well agricultural sectors in Africa region can compete with each other. There were significant differences in productivity and technology levels, thus, showing inefficiencies in using agricultural inputs. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing resource allocation and recommend that tailored regional based interventions and policies are required for improving agricultural productivity and bridging technological gaps throughout Africa..
